MY LAST JOURNEY(?)
an impression of a shrimp's road trip

(see also: expo Atelier K84)

2021 - 2023

GREY

grey I was
grey my sea
but okay

PINK

death was sudden
la mort en rose

my body stuck in a truck
my soul could fly above it
& left + right of the highway

so better enjoy it

some culture, some shopping
a glimpse of urban, rural & industrial areas
to have something to tell when making my appearance
in the afterlife

TANGER

to Tanger I heard the truck driver say
am I Muslim?
only then the hurry & Morocco would make sense

see sea again
no grey
blue
energy low
last miles of my last journey?

‘my last journey(?)’ follows the road trip of a North Sea shrimp.

A dead North Sea shrimp, whose soul is still very much alive.
It is an apparantly strange photo story, also because you do not find him in any image and the images do not
immediately evoke an association with shrimp.

Most of the North Sea shrimps intended for consumption are still peeled in Morocco.
After their catch, they travel there by truck along the highways of the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Spain.
And vice versa. Over 5,000 km.

In ‘my last journey(?)’ the caught shrimp decides to make the best of it after experiencing that his soul can float
above the truck and also to the left and right of it, separate from his body.
Like a tourist, he visits cities (‘Paris!’), sees the sea and beaches, but also the countryside and industrial areas.

Absurd, but actually no stranger than the real journey of his physical remains.
